Meet Rescheduled: Official Time Trials at Practice This Week

Dear Mako Sharks Families,

As many of you know, tonight’s meet was unfortunately cut short due to weather and did not progress beyond the early backstroke heats. Because the meet was not completed and we did not reach the Individual Medley, it is not considered official—yet.

To ensure all swimmers have the opportunity to complete their events, we will continue the meet virtually during practice this week—and the times WILL COUNT toward official scoring.

🗓️ Schedule for the Week

Tuesday Morning – Regular Practice
We will have normal practice sessions:

  • Session 1: 8:00–8:45 AM
  • Session 2: 8:45–9:30 AM

This will be a standard practice to work on skills and give swimmers one more day to prepare before we finish the meet.

Wednesday & Thursday Morning – Virtual Meet Time Trials
We’ll begin with a short warm-up, followed by official time trials.

  • These time trials will be scored against Lake Wylie as part of the meet.
  • Swimmers will swim only the individual events they were originally scheduled for—no relays.
  • Events will be timed by our coaching staff, junior coaches, and two officials.

✅ Important Reminders

  • Times from the time trials will count officially and can earn points for our team.
  • If your swimmer's time is the fastest, they can still win the event.
  • Parents are welcome to attend and cheer from the pool deck, but there will be no meet-style setup—we’re keeping it simple and focused on the swimmers.
  • We will send out one final email Tuesday night with the exact agenda for Wednesday and Thursday’s time trials.

Thank you all for your flexibility and support as we work through this unexpected change. We’re excited to give our swimmers a chance to complete what they started—and we’re proud of the effort they’ve shown every step of the way.

Let’s finish strong!

Best,
Coach Nick
